Weld On Adhesives, the largest subsidiary of IPS Corporation, is the pioneer and leading manufacturer of WeldOn® solvent cements, primers and cleaners for PVC, CPVC, ABS and other plastic piping systems. Weld-On products are globally recognized as the premium products for joining plastic pipes and fittings and are used by professional installers around the world in a variety of applications such as, but not limited to, construction (residential & commercial), industrial (chemical process, water treatment, mining, etc.), irrigation (landscaping & agricultural) and others. Headquartered in California, Weld-On has state-of-the-art operations throughout the United States, as well as China, and a worldwide network of sales representatives and distributors. Our European Expansion efforts have accelerated recently through the acquisition of a significant manufacturing plant in Dinxperlo, Netherlands. This facility will serve as our European headquarters.

About the Role: We seek an experienced Fright Manager to join our team in this non-people manager role to manage the end-to-end freight operations of the company. This role will be responsible for ensuring timely and cost-effective transportation of goods while maintaining strong partnerships with freight carriers. This role oversees the filing and resolution of freight-related insurance claims, ensuring all losses or damages are properly documented and settled. The ideal candidate possesses strong organizational, analytical, and negotiation skills, with a detailed understanding of logistic s processes and insurance protocols.

Responsibilities: Freight Management

  • Monitor escalations of shipment delays or disruptions; monitor modes and results.
  • Track freight expenses and analyze freight costs for optimization opportunities.
  • Investigate duty drawback and implement where appropriate.

Insurance Claims Handling

  • File claims for lost, damaged, or delayed freight with carriers and insurance providers.
  • Collect and compile required documentation (photos, delivery records, proof of value, etc.) for claims processing.
  • Follow up on claims status and work closely with insurers to ensure timely and fair resolution.
  • Maintain a claims log and generate reports on trends, root causes, and resolution rates.

Freight Partner Relations & Negotiation

  • Build and manage relationships with freight carriers, 3PLs, and logistics partners.
  • Negotiate freight rates, service agreements, and contracts to ensure cost-effective and high-quality service.
  • Evaluate carrier performance through KPIs and recommend improvements or changes when necessary.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, regulatory changes, and market conditions affecting transportation.

Consignment Warehouse Management

  • Work with sales, operations and consignment warehouses to optimize warehouse utilization(inventory lev ls, value of services, etc.
  • Track warehouse performance and arrange best practices for maintaining service levels.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred) or equivalent experience in a similar role with demonstrated success and impact.
  • 3+ years of experience in logistics, freight coordination, or supply chain operations.
  • Experience in filing and managing insurance claims related to freight.
  • Strong knowledge of domestic and international shipping practices and regulations.
  • Proficiency in logistics software and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong sense of accountability and urgency.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.
