ASSISTANT MANAGER FINANCE

FUND MANAGEMENT & REGULATORY REPORTING

The Assistant Manager Finance is a key member of the Finance team and has full responsibility for financial reporting for assigned entities in the International Banking Group of Bank of Nova Scotia (BNS) in Barbados as well as oversight on regulatory reporting for all entities in Barbados. Oversight would include working with the Regulatory Reporting Team to ensure full compliance with all regulations and meeting all standards of the Regulatory Reporting Target Operating Model.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Champion a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge,
  • Responsible for the preparation, accuracy, integrity and timely completion of the monthly close process for assigned entities,
  • Responsible for the timely and thorough analysis of the financial performance and the production of reporting outputs on a monthly; quarterly; and annual basis for assigned entities,
  • Responsible for all aspects of internal and external audits specific, ensuring adherence to IFRS and completion of audited statements for assigned entities,
  • Responsible for compliance with all statutory requirements including taxation for assigned entities,
  • Assist with the execution of Regulatory Reporting policies and procedures for all International Banking Barbados Entities of the Bank of Nova Scotia,
  • Responsible for the timely delivery of regulatory reports based on frequency basis,
  • Keep abreast of the regulatory environment and participate in Central Bank meetings, as required,
  • Support the monthly forecasting and annual planning process for non-business segment items,
  • Provide analysis and insightful reporting on the trending of expenses to facilitate the proactive management of expenses,
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions, and
  • Provide solid leadership to the finance team as a senior member of the finance department.

EDUCATION/DESIRABLE CRITERIA

  • The incumbent should have completed or be in the final stage of completing a recognized accounting qualification (i.e ACCA or CA).
  • Possess a good understanding of the Barbados Mutual Fund Act, Financial Institutions Act and statutory reporting requirements in Barbados as relevant to Banking, Insurance Agents and Mutual Funds.
  • At least three years of working experience in a finance role with responsibility for financial statement preparation and analysis
