Job Description Reporting to the SVP, Head of Financial Lines Bermuda, this position will be responsible for assisting in the development, underwriting and maintenance of the company’s Bermuda Healthcare portfolio.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Underwrite, price and negotiate accounts in line with the company’s strategy and risk appetite
  • Coordinate all stages of the underwriting process such as marketing, risk analysis, contract negotiation and contract maintenance
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgment in the analysis and evaluation of risks
  • Develop and enhance relationships with brokers and clients to identify and establish new distribution relationships
  • Develop and manage a portfolio of clients
  • Evaluate and prioritize submissions
  • Assist in monitoring portfolio growth and profitably
  • Identify and drive new opportunities, including working proactively with other underwriting teams to identify and capitalize on cross sell opportunities
  • Assist in the training and development of underwriting and technical staff
  • Coordinate legal and actuarial resources where appropriate across the portfolio

Qualifications, Skills And Experience

  • Minimum 10 years healthcare insurance experience specializing in underwriting or broking Hospital business
  • University degree, with specialization in Business, Finance or Economics preferred
  • Robust experience with contract wordings and endorsements
  • Knowledge of standard primary and excess policy forms
  • Strong analytical and marketing skills
  • Proven ability to effectively interact, communicate and negotiate with all levels of external and/or internal business partners
  • Demonstrated people and process management skills
  • Deep understanding of US and Bermuda Healthcare markets and protocols
  • Well established and significant relationships with U.S. and Bermuda Healthcare producers and customers
  • Ability to work extended hours and travel at short notice
