Compensation: EUR €90,000 – €94,000 per annum** Job Overview

  • We are seeking a motivated and safety-conscious Project Engineer specializing in Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) for a key role within the chemical manufacturing industry. The position involves independently managing multiple E&I investment projects at our Leverkusen site from concept to completion. The ideal candidate will be experienced in CapEx project planning, technical documentation, and cross-functional collaboration, while ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead E&I projects safely and independently from planning through execution
  • Develop investment requests, technical specifications, and project documentation
  • Manage project coordination across basic and detailed engineering phases
  • Ensure timely delivery of projects with accurate cost estimates and schedules
  • Implement structured risk management and quality control (ISO 9001, IATF 16949, ISO 50001)
  • Collaborate with procurement on contract development and vendor management
  • Assist in complex or large-scale E&I projects as a key technical contributor
  • Coordinate regulatory approvals and technical documentation
  • Report project progress, budgets, and ensure compliance with all EHS standards

Must-Have Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering or Automation Technology
  • 2–5 years of experience in CapEx project execution within the chemical industry
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools including MS Project
  • Strong analytical and structured approach to problem solving
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently
  • Business-fluent German (spoken & written); good English skills
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 / ISO 50001 compliance requirements

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Intercultural competence and experience in global project teams
  • Familiarity with cause-and-effect matrices, step chains, and automation control systems
  • Experience in procurement coordination and contract negotiation
  • Prior exposure to safety-first project environments
