Job Description:
Nature Of Work : The Electrical/Controls Engineer will design and oversee the development and improvement of process equipment. This position will work closely with Production, Product Development and Maintenance teams to develop, troubleshoot and enhance equipment that will optimize material flow, minimize change over time, maximize throughput, eliminate defects and be reliable in operation.
Examples Of Work : ¨ Maintains active awareness of new technological developments in the field of rubber/magnet manufacturing for potential integration into the company’s manufacturing processes.
¨ Designs and troubleshoots electrical and controls systems for manufacturing equipment and processes.
¨ Analyzes current manufacturing processes and identifies opportunities for improvement.
¨ Utilizes Magnum Tollgate process to lead the design and implementation of new manufacturing processes and improvements.
¨ Performs project justification, including savings and benefit analysis and return on investment.
¨ Develops standard work for manufacturing processes.
¨ Implements mistake-proofing concepts and in-process quality checks on manufacturing processes to prevent defects.
¨ Develops standard work and best practice for all aspects of position.
¨ Supports the development of new products and product improvements.
¨ Develops Total Productive Maintenance plans for new equipment and manufacturing processes.
¨ Troubleshoots and debugs manufacturing processes and equipment.
¨ Participates in and leads kaizen events.
¨ Performs other duties assigned by management.
Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities : ¨ Working knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLC), VFD and Power Distribution.
¨ Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
¨ Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
¨ Ability to effectively communicate with others in writing and verbally.
¨ Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
¨ Excellent organizational skills.
¨ Ability to use computer applications and systems, including: Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Visio, Project).
¨ Experience Using Computer-aided Drafting Software (AutoCAD Preferred).
¨ Self-motivated.
¨ Creativity.
¨ Understanding of process capability and statistical analysis.
¨ Organizational skills.
¨ Working knowledge of Lean and Theory of Constraints manufacturing.
¨ Experience Working With Laminates (paper, Vinyl, Polypropylene) Preferred.
¨ Experience working with adhesives (solvent, water-based) preferred.
¨ Understanding of mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
¨ Working knowledge of all applicable Federal, State and Local codes such as National Electric Code and NFPA70E.
¨ Ability to develop, read and interpret documents such as technical drawings, engineering specifications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and prints.
¨ Strong analytical skills
¨ Ability to manage multiple projects/tasks simultaneously.
¨ Working knowledge of magnetics preferred.
¨ Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
¨ Ability to work extended hours as needed.
Minimum Qualifications :
- Training: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Controls Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Experience: Five (5) years experience in a continuous process environment.
