Job Description:

Education And Work Experience Higher education (University degree or higher) in the electrical area and not less than 5 years of work experience as Electrical Engineer (in designing).

Main Functions

  • Maintain the integrity of electrical system design in the Karachaganak asset.
  • Investigate electrical engineering issues.
  • Engineer changes and additions to electrical system, issue high quality, cost effective designs and reports in a timely manner and provide preliminary cost estimates for proposed changes and additions.
  • Complete assigned work in time to meet KPO schedules and Units requests. The work will include: investigations, surveys, feasibility studies, calculations, simulations, conceptual design, detailed design, production of drawings, engineering reports and scope of works, cost estimation, equipment and material specification and procurement.
  • Supervise electrical pre-engineering and feasibility work assigned to external design institutes and engineering companies; maintain the progress and quality of this work.
  • Report progress of all assigned work to Senior Electrical Engineer.
  • Participate in the risk assessment and hazard and operability studies of designs.
  • Perform peer and inter-discipline checks on work by engineers within and outside the Field Facilities Modification Department.
  • Ensure the selection of cost effective designs and materials, taking into account operating costs and standardization of equipment.
  • Control technical compliance of purchased electrical equipment and materials.
  • Supervise acceptance testing of purchased electrical equipment.
  • Ensure compliance of assigned electrical engineering work with the terms of the design brief or technical assignment and applicable specifications, codes and standards for electrical equipment and materials.
  • Provide electrical engineering support/control to the teams responsible for construction and commissioning of the modified or new plant.
  • Study best domestic and IEC standard electrical engineering practice for use in design.
  • Interface with Vendors and Consultant for technical evaluation and Unit performance analysis.
  • Specify and order the correct materials for the construction of the design.

Necessary Knowledge And Skills

  • Intermediate (B1) English level is an advantage on this role;
  • Onshore oil & gas upstream facilities.
  • Engineering practice for project concept selection, FEED study, detailed design follow-on engineering and closeout.
  • Field electrical installations in the oil and gas industry.
  • Methods for specifying electrical equipment.
  • Electrical theory and its practical implementation.
  • Electrical distribution system up to 35KV.
  • Electrical protection systems.
  • RoK and international codes, regulations and standards relating to electrical engineering.
  • Latest developments and current best practice in electrical engineering.
  • Technical report writing.
  • Time management.
  • Computer literacy.
