The Grid Connection Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all activities related to connecting the Solar PV and ESS plants to the electrical grid. This role ensures that the connection process complies with regulatory standards, technical requirements, and project timelines. The Grid Connection Manager works closely with grid operators, regulatory bodies, and internal teams to ensure the successful and efficient grid integration of the solar plant.
Your role will encompass:
- Lead the process for connecting the PV and ESS plants to the national grid, including liaising with grid operators, distribution system operators (DSOs), and transmission system operators (TSOs).
- Ensure compliance with grid code requirements and regulatory standards throughout the connection process.
- Develop project grid connection budget at early development stage of the project, perform preliminary technical due diligence and manage grid connection timelines, ensuring all milestones are met to keep the project on track.
- Collaborate with internal and/or external engineering teams to design the electrical infrastructure needed for grid connection (e.g., transformers, substations, cabling).
- Manage all regulatory submissions and permits required for grid connection and power generation licensing.
- Act as the main point of contact between the company and grid operators (DSOs, TSOs), as well as regulatory authorities.
- Identify potential risks related to grid connection and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Provide troubleshooting support during the commissioning and testing phases to ensure smooth grid synchronization.
- Prepare and maintain detailed documentation on grid connection processes, approvals, and technical specifications.
What you bring to the role:
- 5+ years of experience in grid connection or power systems, ideally in the renewable energy sector.
- Proven track record in managing grid connection projects for utility-scale PV parks or renewable energy plants.
- Knowledge about local market and key players in design, supply and construction of transmission facilities.
- Strong knowledge of grid code regulations, electrical system design, and power system operations.
- Experience working with national grid operators (DSOs and TSOs) and regulatory bodies.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills. Valid Project Management Certification would considered as advantage.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work with multiple stakeholders.
