CoE MARBLE
Job Description:
We are looking for a versatile and experienced Electronics Technician to manage all electronics design aspects related to “CoE MARBLE – Centre of Excellence in Maritime Robotics and Technologies for Sustainable Blue Economy” (https://www.marble.eu/), with focus on the two pilot sites located in Šibenik . The Electronics Technician will support the pilot sites Managers in the operations and maintenance of the infrastructure and equipment as well as be responsible for electrical board designs and sensor interoperability. The ideal candidate will have experience in integrating controllers (e.g. Jetson boards) with power regulators, switches, and sensors; perform wiring tasks; design of simple PCBs; coordination and execution of operations at sea; maintenance of equipment and infrastructure and; handling testing equipment (scope, spectrometer, power generators, multimeter). In addition, the preferred candidate will have multi-partner environment experience and possess excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

CoE MARBLE – Centre of Excellence for Maritime Robotics and Technologies for Sustainable Blue Economy , is a R&D non-profit company, financed by the European Commission under the prestigious Horizon Europe Teaming programme, founded by University of Zagreb Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing.
The main goal of CoE MARBLE is to
engage Croatia in a path of sustainable innovative growth in blue economy in strategic partnership with Norwegian University of Science and Technology and National Research Council (Italy). The strategic vision of CoE MARBLE is to put Croatia on the map of R&I excellence by becoming a European lighthouse and a role model in the field of maritime robotics and technologies, focusing on key research areas identified as essential enablers with the highest impact on the blue economy sectors aligned with the Smart Specialization Strategy of Croatia.

Key responsibilities:
- Collaboration in the design, integration, and testing of new equipment, robotic vehicles, and systems
- Development and production of electronic and mechatronic components and systems
- Integration of sensors with controllers
- Design power regulator boards and connectivity solutions to meet the specifications of end users.
- Participation in the creation of accompanying documentation
- Participation in professional work and project activities
- Diagnosing electrical, electronic, and, if necessary, mechanical malfunctions and repairing them
- Technical support during field testing of equipment, workshops, meetings, and conferences in Croatia and abroad
- Participation in equipment and component selection and procurement
- Maintenance of underwater cables and connectors, deployed and on-shore computers, servers and controllers, battery packs, robotic vehicles, and other systems at the pilot site
- Participate at meetings, and other relevant events
- other tasks as defined by pilot site Managers, Head of Engineering and Research Infrastructure Department, and the Director
Candidates’ profile – Must haves:
- Minimum high school diploma in a relevant technical field
- 5+ years of experience
- Practical hands-on experience (e.g., using tools, soldering, wiring, making cable connectors)
- PCB/electronics board design and production experience
- Computer skills: Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet, PCB design and electrical board simulation tools
- English language (basic speaking and writing skills)
- We are looking for a conscientious and responsible person who is willing to learn new skills through training and work.
- Background in integration of hardware components (e.g., Raspberry Pi, Jetson Nano, STM32, FPGA).
- Writing of technical specification documents: functional requirement document (FRD), request for information (RFI), request for proposal (RFP).
- experience in wiring, soldering and integrating multi-PCB components.
- Exceptional organizational and time-management abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of English language
Preferred qualifications – Bonus points:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in a relevant field (e.g., Electrical/Electronic Engineering)
- Experience working with maritime, underwater, or waterproof systems
- Experience with embedded electronic systems
- Programming of embedded systems in C++ or Python
- English (intermediate or higher speaking and writing level)
- Driver’s license: Category B
- Diver certificate: an advantage
- Experience in field trials
Type of contract: Full time, 40 hours per week
Number of positions available: 1 (one)
Contract duration: 3 years with renewal as indefinite contract (trial period of 6 months)
