Job Description The Real Estate Development Project Manager will oversee and manage all phases of our diverse development projects, including residential, commercial, and mixed-use properties. This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent project management skills, a deep understanding of real estate markets, strong vendor and contractor relationships, and the ability to coordinate cross-functional teams effectively. The ideal candidate will ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with company values and community goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, permitting, budgeting, design, and construction phases of real estate development projects from inception through closeout.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, consultants, local governments, and internal stakeholders to ensure compliance and high-quality delivery.
- Develop detailed project schedules, financial forecasts, and cost controls to monitor and manage budget adherence.
- Identify and mitigate risks throughout the project lifecycle to avoid delays or cost overruns.
- Facilitate communication between all project participants, including investors, property managers, leasing agents, and marketing teams.
- Review and negotiate contracts with vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers to secure favorable terms.
- Conduct site visits and inspections regularly to monitor progress and quality.
- Ensure all projects meet or exceed safety, environmental, and zoning regulations.
- Prepare and present regular status reports to senior leadership and stakeholders.
- Support the company’s mission by promoting sustainable development practices and community-focused design principles.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience managing real estate development projects, preferably in mixed-use or master-planned communities.
- Proven ability to manage complex projects involving multiple stakeholders and tight deadlines.
- Strong knowledge of local zoning laws, building codes, and permitting processes in the Kansas City metropolitan area.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
- Proficiency with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, Procore).
- Financial acumen with experience managing project budgets and forecasts.
- Self-motivated with strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to multiple job sites as required.
