Role Overview

We are seeking a meticulous and analytical Inventory Accountant to manage and optimize inventory accounting across our global fashion operations. Based in Lugano, this role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate valuation, reporting, and reconciliation of inventory across retail, wholesale, and e-commerce channels. The ideal candidate has a strong grasp of inventory flows, cost accounting, and ERP systems, with a passion for luxury fashion and operational precision.

🎯 Key Responsibilities

Inventory Accounting & Valuation

  • Maintain accurate inventory records across multiple locations and business units
  • Perform monthly and quarterly inventory reconciliations, including physical counts and system audits
  • Ensure proper valuation of inventory using FIFO, weighted average, or standard cost methods

Cost Control & COGS Analysis

  • Monitor and analyze cost of goods sold (COGS), inventory adjustments, and shrinkage
  • Collaborate with supply chain and merchandising teams to validate landed costs, transfers, and markdowns
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes with inventory-related insights

ERP & System Management

  • Work within ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or Stealth) to manage inventory transactions and reporting
  • Ensure data integrity between finance, warehouse, and retail systems
  • Assist in system upgrades, process automation, and integration projects

Compliance & Audit Support

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, and audit requirements
  • Prepare documentation and reports for internal and external audits
  • Support inventory-related tax filings and statutory reporting as needed

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with finance, logistics, retail, and IT teams to resolve discrepancies and improve processes
  • Provide training and guidance to operational teams on inventory procedures and policies
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in inventory management and reporting

🧠 Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent preferred
  • 3–5 years of experience in inventory accounting, ideally within fashion, retail, or luxury goods
  • Strong knowledge of inventory valuation methods, cost accounting, and reconciliation processes
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) and Excel. Stealth is preferred
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Fluent in English; Italian is a strong advantage
