The Director of Transportation Operations will oversee the strategic planning, execution, and management of our transportation operations within the managed freight programs for assigned clients. This role requires a dynamic leader with extensive experience in logistics, supply chain management, and transportation. The Director will be responsible for ensuring the seamless operation of our transportation services, optimizing costs, and maintaining high service levels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategic plans for transportation operations to achieve company and client goals and objectives.
  • Oversee the daily operations of assigned transportation groups, including load planning, carrier management, and freight optimization.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure efficient and cost-effective transportation solutions.
  • Monitor and analyze transportation metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with all ATS policies and procedures.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of transportation professionals.
  • Manage the transportation budget and ensure cost control measures are in place.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service quality and operational efficiency.
  • Foster strong relationships with carriers, stakeholders, and customers to ensure high levels of satisfaction.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in logistics operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record of managing large-scale transportation operations within a 3PL environment.
  • Strong knowledge of transportation management systems (TMS) and logistics software.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Other related duties as assigned

  • Managers and Assistant Managers – Transportation Operations
  • Transportation Analysts/ Supply Chain Coordinators

Technical Skills Requirements:

  • Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook & Access, TMS applications
  • Ability to interface with other functional areas, stakeholders and clients
  • Thorough understanding of surface transportation management terms and concepts
  • Proven analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills

Business Travel

  • Requirement to travel to conferences and key network stakeholder meetings, as needed
