Why this role matters 

Mataa is scaling fast in a cash-on-delivery, high working-capital, low-trust market . We need a CFO who can build a world-class finance machine, secure debt, and turn messy cash cycles into predictable fuel for growth.

Mission

Design and own the finance operating system of Mataa: Chart of Accounts, FP&A, treasury, working capital facilities, COD reconciliation, ERP/Odoo finance stack, internal controls, and investor reporting —so the CEO can make fast, data-backed decisions..

Key Responsibilities

Capital & Treasury

• Structure and raise debt facilities (working capital lines, inventory financing, revenue-based financing).
• Cash management, banking relationships, FX risk, liquidity buffers.
• Build and run the week by week cash flow and treasury policy.

Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)

• Own the budget, forecasts, scenario plans (base/bear/bull), and variance analyses.
• Track unit economics (CAC, LTV, contribution margin by category/city) and profitability by business line (managed marketplace vs. in-stock).
• Design reporting dashboards (BI/Looker/Power BI) and make them simple enough for operators to act on.

Accounting, Controls & Compliance

• Build the Chart of Accounts tailored to Mataa’s two models (inventory vs. marketplace).
• Month-end close, revenue recognition, accruals, COGS, inventory valuation, provisions.
• Implement/upgrade Odoo ERP Finance and enforce internal controls (cash handling, COD reconciliation, PO/3-way matching, approval matrices).
• IFRS/Libyan GAAP compliance, external audits, tax planning & filings.

Operations Finance

• COD / wallet reconciliation and shrinkage/leakage prevention .
• Collections & payables cycles: vendor payments calendar, DPO/DIO/DSO optimization.
• Cost discipline: compensation bands, headcount planning, procurement policies.

Investor Relations & Strategy

• Translate the numbers into strategy : pricing, assortment, city launch sequencing, logistics network design.
• Prepare board packs , investor updates, and drive data room readiness for future rounds.

Requirements (Must-haves)

• 8–12+ years total experience, with 3–5 years as a Head of Finance / CFO / VP Finance in a high-volume, low-margin business (e-commerce, retail, last-mile, fintech, or marketplaces).
• Debt financing experience (term sheets, covenants, collateral, cash sweeps).
• Strong command of IFRS , internal controls, and audit processes.
• Hands-on with ERPs (Odoo preferred) and can design/own the Chart of Accounts.
• Excellent English & Arabic .
• Can operate in ambiguous, scrappy startup environments and then build structure fast.

Nice-to-haves

• Prior experience in North Africa / MENA with COD-heavy operations .
• Experience with revenue-based financing, asset-backed lending, or SPVs .
• Built BI/analytics pipelines (SQL, dbt, or worked closely with data teams).
• Exposure to collections automation, reconciliation at scale, and fraud/risk .

Personality / Working Style

• Operator first, banker second : you build systems and ship improvements weekly.
• Zero ego, high rigor : you get into the weeds (bank statements, delivery cash bags) and can also present to a board.
• Teaches the org finance : everyone learns to read the P&L and act on it.
