Job Description:

On behalf of a leading independent upstream oil and gas operator, WRS is seeking an experienced Procurement Team Lead to manage the end-to-end procurement process for operational activities in Kurdistan. This field-based rotational role offers the opportunity to lead and develop a high-performing procurement function while ensuring compliance with industry regulations and internal governance standards.

The role will be offered on a 12 month renewable contract, rotating 28/28 into Erbil, paying a day rate in USD.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all procurement activities across the business, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and transparency.
  • Oversee the full tendering lifecycle—from prequalification through to delivery and contract close-out.
  • Ensure procurement activities meet internal standards as well as regional regulatory and PSC requirements.
  • Liaise with internal departments and legal teams to manage contracts and resolve procurement issues.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and develop long-term procurement strategies and framework agreements.
  • Guide and mentor procurement staff, monitoring performance against KPIs and strengthening team capability.
  • Maintain accurate, auditable documentation and reporting for internal and external review.
  • Foster the use of local suppliers and align procurement strategies with broader business goals.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 15 years’ experience in procurement management within the oil and gas sector, preferably with international operators.
  • Strong background in the negotiation and implementation of supplier contracts, particularly within production operations.
  • Previous experience working for an Oil & Gas operator
  • Experience working in the Middle East or Kurdistan region is advantageous.
  • Solid understanding of procurement compliance, FCPA, and due diligence requirements.
  • Strong legal and commercial acumen with the ability to manage contractual disputes.
  • Proven leadership and people management capabilities.
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written) with excellent communication and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; degree-level education in a relevant field is preferred.
